14th Aug 2007 Orange and apple I love your web site

19th Jul 2007 Josie Both my daughters are born in May - one on the first day and one on the last. I love having my 'May babies' - it's so lovely that they symbolise the joy of Spring fo me. So I was thrilled this year when my eldest daughter, for her 5th birthday, said she wanted a Maypole. It's so nice to be guided by your children and I took her absolutely seriously and said 'ok - let's do it'. The planned pinata went on the back burner for next year (thankfully my suggestion we don't do both was graciously accepted!) and we went shopping for ribbons my two daughters and I. 'Edinburgh Fabrics' is a wonderful emporium of colour and texture and truly with wonder we picked out 15 ribbons of different colours. They look so beautiful! We're all thrilled. Of course this year being how it is, her party day is overcast and damp but we all go out anyway. Party shoes get a bit soggy but all the children dance around the washing pole on the back green. Later I find all our neighbours had looked out and smiled and the pole looked so great with its higgeldy piggeldy ribbons - really it was all a bit chaotic but just brilliant! The cake looks fab! I shall certainly make it next year in memory of our own maypole foray. I can see the excitement in the girls eyes already as they behold that pink icing...
