Sterilising Jars

Before you bottle jams or preserves, always sterilise the jars.

Wash the jars and lids in very hot water. Take out and place on a baking tin lined with newspaper. Turn your oven to a low setting (70 degrees C or your lowest Gas Mark) and place jars inside. This will dry and warm them so they are ready for the hot jam.
