You can do this with streamers, balloons (helium ones work well), crêpe paper, printed shapes from the computer, colourful pipe cleaners or ribbons. It looks fabulous and makes the birthday person feel special for a week or so!
Decorate a high-backed kitchen or dining chair with your chosen design. Last year Joe was 13, so Tamsin put big 13s all over his chair, but you can do hearts, flowers or candle shapes - whatever takes your fancy.
